Rust Teas: Every Recipe and Effect, from Ore Tea to Pies

Every Rust tea with recipe and effect: ore, scrap, wood, max health and more as basic, advanced and pure, the new milky and creamy teas and all pies.

Updated · 12 min read

In short

  • Ore Tea from 2 yellow and 2 blue berries gives +20% (Basic), +35% (Advanced) or +50% (Pure) more stone, metal, sulfur and HQM while mining, each for 30 minutes. As Pure, Scrap Tea gives up to +350% scrap from barrels and Wood Tea up to +200% wood. Pick the effect first, then the strength.
  • The three standard tiers are Basic, Advanced and Pure. One Pure Tea takes 64 berries: 16 in each of the four recipe slots. Brew 16 Basic Teas, combine them into 4 Advanced Teas, then into 1 Pure Tea. The recipe determines the berry colour in each slot.
  • Warming Tea helps in the cold; Cooling Tea helps in the heat. Each changes your temperature and also sets a temperature limit. The tables below separate those effects from their duration.
  • Add milk to Pure Tea to make Milky Tea, or cream to make Creamy Tea. Milky lasts longer; Creamy is stronger but wears off sooner.
  • Pies have their own uses. Chicken Pie helps when planting for good genes. Bear Pie boosts Harvesting Tea while butchering, but halves the tea’s duration.

Every Rust tea: recipe, effect and duration

Before a farming run, check both the extra yield and how long it lasts. This table lists each tier. Warming and Cooling Tea have their own section below because they also set a temperature limit.

Recipes are for one Basic Tea. Advanced takes the equivalent of 16 berries, Pure 64. Each Basic, Advanced and Pure Tea also restores 30 water. A second tea of the same kind does not extend the effect; it resets the duration to its maximum. Different teas work at the same time.

Warming and Cooling Tea: temperature, limits and duration

Warming Tea does two things: it raises your temperature and prevents it from dropping below a set minimum. The Basic recipe uses 2 white and 2 yellow berries.

Warming TeaTemperature increaseMinimum temperatureDuration
Basic5 °C−15 °C20 minutes
Advanced10 °C−8 °C45 minutes
Pure15 °C0 °C60 minutes
Milky15 °C0 °C90 minutes
Creamy19.5 °C0 °C48 minutes

Cooling Tea works in the opposite direction: it lowers your temperature. Every tier also keeps it from rising above 40 °C while active. Basic takes 2 white and 2 blue berries.

Cooling TeaTemperature decreaseMaximum temperatureDuration
Basic10 °C40 °C20 minutes
Advanced15 °C40 °C45 minutes
Pure20 °C40 °C60 minutes
Milky20 °C40 °C90 minutes
Creamy26 °C40 °C48 minutes
The cooling amounts come from item descriptions checked on 14 October 2026. In the in-game check on 15 October, all Cooling tiers shared the same 40 °C upper limit. Below that, no temperature reading was visible, so the display could not show how far each tier actually cooled the player. Basic already provides the 40 °C cap; this observation alone does not establish the usefulness of the other cooling amounts. Milky and Creamy are made from Pure Tea; see the milk section for their recipes.

How to brew tea at the mixing table

Make tea at a Mixing Table or Cooking Bench. You do not need an additional workbench (WB1, WB2 or WB3). The steps below describe using the mixing table.

  1. Open the mixing table and left-click the recipe you want. The matching berries move from your inventory into the four recipe slots.
  2. Shift + left-click fills the four berry slots to 20 / 20 / 20 / 20, provided you have enough of the required berries. Otherwise, it inserts the largest quantity you can make with that recipe combination.
  3. For exactly one Pure Tea, use 16 / 16 / 16 / 16 berries across the four slots: 64 in total. For Ore Tea, that means two slots with 16 yellow berries each and two with 16 blue berries each – 32 yellow and 32 blue.
  4. Brew 16 Basic Teas. Every four identical Basic Teas make one Advanced Tea, giving you 4 Advanced Teas. Combine those four into 1 Pure Tea.
  5. To improve Pure Tea further, add 3 milk for Milky Tea or 3 cream for Creamy Tea.
  1. Use middle-click to take half of the 20 berries out of the first slot. 10 berries remain in that slot.
  2. Use middle-click to put half of the 10 berries you removed back into the first slot. That adds 5, bringing the slot to 15 berries.
  3. Use right-click to add one more berry. The first slot now holds 16 berries; the other three still hold 20.
  4. Start mixing. The other slots are adjusted to 16, and the mixing table brews 16 Basic Teas. Combine those into 4 Advanced Teas, then 1 Pure Tea.

If you brew tea regularly, growing your own berries is useful. The cloning guide explains how to improve your plants’ yield.

Read each row from left to right: each colour represents one of the four slots. Use one berry per slot for one Basic Tea, or the same sequence with 16 berries per slot for 16 Basic Teas.

Milky and creamy: pure tea with milk or cream

Milky and Creamy are two ways to upgrade a Pure Tea. Add either 3 milk or 3 cream. To get cream, refrigerate cow’s milk for four hours, then skim it. This also leaves you with skimmed milk.

Harvesting tea+65% for 20 min+65% for 30 min+85% for 16 min
Hydration and food values are totals per tea: Milky restores 45 water and 90 calories; Creamy restores 30 water and 45 calories. Most Creamy Teas also heal 5 HP immediately. Creamy Healing Tea heals 18 HP immediately; do not add another 5 HP. Crafting Quality Tea only comes in Basic, Advanced and Pure, with no Milky or Creamy version.

Every pie: recipes and effects

Make pies at the Cooking Workbench. Every regular pie gives 80 calories, 15 water and 2 instant HP, plus its own effect, such as reducing bleed damage or improving the chance of good plant genes.

For most Rich pies, add 4 cream to the regular recipe. Three recipes differ: for Fish Pie and Hunters Pie, replace the mushroom with 6 cream. Rich Shepherds Pie takes 3 wheat, 3 eggs, 2 cooked mutton and 4 cream, with no potato. Rich pies give 100 calories, 19 water and 3 instant HP. Their special effect is stronger or lasts longer, as shown below.

Common questions

How many berries do I need for a pure tea?

You need 64 berries: 16 in each of the four recipe slots, or 16 / 16 / 16 / 16. Follow the recipe for each slot’s berry colour. Ore Tea takes 32 yellow and 32 blue berries in total. These make 16 Basic Teas, then 4 Advanced Teas, then 1 Pure Tea. With enough berries available, Shift + left-click instead fills each slot to 20 and uses 80 berries.

Which berries do I need for ore tea?

Yellow and blue berries, 2 of each for a basic ore tea. A pure ore tea takes 32 yellow and 32 blue.

What is the difference between milky and creamy tea?

Add 3 milk to Pure Tea for a Milky Tea with a longer timed effect, or 3 cream for a stronger but shorter Creamy Tea. For Ore Tea, Pure gives 50% extra yield for 30 minutes. Milky keeps that bonus for 45 minutes, while Creamy gives 65% extra yield for 24 minutes.

What does the chicken pie do?

Chicken Pie improves the chance of good genes when you plant seeds for 10 minutes. Rich Chicken Pie strengthens that effect, but the game does not give an exact percentage. Eat it shortly before planting to make use of the duration. See the cloning guide for the next steps.

Does ore tea give more HQM?

Yes. In our in-game check, Basic Ore Tea (+20%) gave 3 HQM from one of three nodes and 2 from each of the others. Advanced (+35%) gave 3 HQM twice and 2 once. Both tiers can therefore give 3 HQM, but this small sample does not establish a reliable probability. Dedicated HQM nodes are separate: without tea, fully mining one with a pickaxe or jackhammer normally gives 20 HQM ore and 400 metal ore.

Can I drink several teas at once?

A second tea of the same kind does not extend the effect; it resets the duration to its maximum. Different teas work at the same time.

Does the bear pie also work on scrap or ore tea?

No, only on the harvesting tea: +50% yield when gutting (rich bear pie +75%), but the tea lasts only half as long.
